Adding background color to the publication page

Make sure you are in Edit mode.

Use the rectangle shape tool to place a rectangle on the page, then drag its corners to cover the entire page.

Fill it with your chosen color.

Right-click the rectangle and select Send to back so other content appears on top of it.

Send to back moves the element behind all other elements on the page.
