How to generate a HAR file for troubleshooting

How to generate a HAR file in Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari to send to Joomag Customer Care for troubleshooting.

Written by David Aslanyan

For complex technical issues, Joomag Customer Care may ask you for a HAR file to investigate network requests made by your browser.

HAR (HTTP Archive) is a format that tracks information between your browser and a website. It is used to identify performance issues, slow load times, and page rendering problems.

How to generate a HAR file:

Chrome

  1. Open Chrome and go to the page where the issue occurs.

  2. Click the Vertical ellipsis button and select More Tools > Developer Tools > Network tab. You can also use Ctrl + Shift + I (Windows) or Option⌥ + Cmd⌘ + I (Mac).

  3. In the Network tab, make sure the round red Record button is active. If it's grey, click it to start recording.

  4. Check Preserve log.

  5. Refresh the page and reproduce the issue.

  6. Click the Download button and save the file to your computer.

  7. Attach the HAR file to your active conversation with Joomag Customer Care.

Microsoft Edge

  1. Click Settings and more (ellipsis icon) in the upper-right corner.

  2. Select More Tools > Developer Tools.

  3. Go to the Network tab and make sure the Record button is active.

  4. Check Preserve log.

  5. Refresh the page and reproduce the issue.

  6. Click Download and save the HAR file.

  7. Return to your Live Chat with Joomag Customer Care and attach the file.

Firefox

  1. Make sure you are on the page where the issue occurs in Firefox.

  2. Click the Firefox menu (three horizontal lines, top-right), then select More Tools > Web Developer Tools.

  3. Click the Network tab in the Developer Tools panel.

  4. Recording starts automatically. Once you've reproduced the issue, right-click anywhere under the File column and click Save all as HAR.

  5. Save the HAR file and upload it to your Customer Care chat.

Note: These instructions apply to both Mac and Windows.

Safari

  1. Open the page where the error occurs in Safari.

  2. Press Option⌥ + Cmd⌘ + I to open the Web Inspector.

  3. Go to the Network tab.

  4. Check Preserve log.

  5. Refresh the page to start recording, then click Export as a HAR File.

  6. Go back to the Live Chat with Joomag Customer Care and send the file.
