How to use private embedding to restrict publications so they are only accessible from your website, with optional country restrictions.

Written by David Aslanyan

If you have a website with free or paid memberships and want to embed publications that are accessible only from your site, use Joomag's private embedding feature. It prevents your publications from being accessed by any URL other than the ones you specify, and optionally restricts by country.

Note: This feature is available on the Enterprise plan only.

  1. Open the collection you want, click Actions, then open Default settings.

  2. Scroll down to Privacy settings, then go to Where can this publication be embedded?

  3. Select Only on the sites I choose and enter your website URL. Use the plus icon to add additional URLs.

  4. Enable Disable public links to ensure publications can only be opened from your specified URLs.

  5. Optionally add country privacy settings:

    • Allow — the publication is accessible to visitors from the specified country.

    • Deny — the publication is blocked for visitors from the specified country.

Once privacy is configured, get the embed code for your collection and place it on your website. The latest live edition displays automatically — you won't need to update the code each time you publish a new issue.

For standalone publications, perform the same steps from the publication Privacy settings.
